We are seeking a Software Developer to help build innovative technology applications for the next generation of electronic warfare (EW) systems. Your work will contribute to ensuring the US and its allies dominate the RF spectrum. You'll be joining our hardworking team of systems engineers, algorithm developers, FPGA and embedded software engineers, and advanced EW technology enthusiasts who enjoy working together to craft creative solutions to complex challenges in addition to bringing real solutions from concept to prototyping. Your work will be critical to ensure that algorithms work with other components within a collaborative software framework.

 

As a Software Developer, we will trust you to ...

  • Develop software for real-time embedded systems.
  • Implement digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms for various types of communication, data link, radar, and jamming signals.
  • Ensure that APL software can run in s.
  • Test and demonstrate your work in field tests and lab demos.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or another related technical discipline.
  • Have at least three years of relevant software development experience.
  • Have experience with source control tools (such as Git).
  • Have experience with C/C++, Python, or similar programming languages.
  • Have experience working with Linux operating systems.
  • Have experience working with technologies (such as Docker, Podman, d, etc.).
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date, and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have a Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or another related technical discipline.
  • Have at least seven years of relevant experience working with embedded systems and embedded programming.
  • Have experience with embedded software development.
  • Have experience with VHDL, Verilog, or other FPGA development languages.
  • Have experience in programming for Software Defined Radio (SDR).
  • Have experience with orchestration technologies (such as Kubernetes, Rancher, etc.).
  • Are experienced with digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms.
  • Hold an active DoD Secret level clearance or higher.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
